Β Jameis L. WinstonΒ (/ΛdΚeΙͺmΙs/,Β jay-miss, born January 6, 1994) is anΒ American footballΒ quarterbackΒ for theΒ Tampa Bay BuccaneersΒ of theΒ National Football LeagueΒ (NFL). Born and raised inΒ Alabama, he was a highly regarded quarterback in high school, and led his team to the state championship as a junior. Winston playedΒ college footballΒ for theΒ Florida State SeminolesΒ and as a Redshirt freshman became the youngest player to win theΒ Heisman TrophyΒ and helped lead the Seminoles to a victory in theΒ 2014 BCS National Championship Game. In his sophomore and final year, the Seminoles advanced to theΒ Rose Bowl, part of the college football playoff. Winston also played onΒ Florida State's baseballΒ team. Winston was drafted as theΒ first overall pickΒ by the Buccaneers in theΒ 2015 NFL Draft.
